Selecting Your Preferred Driver Tiers

What Different Driver Tiers Offer

We allow you to customize the types of drivers that who can accept your runs and the certification level you are most comfortable working with. Keep in mind that with the more driver tiers you select, the larger the pool of drivers that becomes available to you.

Tier 1 drivers, also known as Certified Elite drivers, are drivers who exceed all Relay certification requirements. These drivers have many years of experience on the road and are comfortable working with many different carriers on the Network. Tier 1 drivers satisfy the following requirements:
  1. At least 3 years of verifiable CDL A experience
  2. A clean driving record
  3. Have been highly rated by other carriers on the Relay Network
  4. Able to drive both manual and automatic trucks

Tier 2 drivers, also known as Certified Pro drivers, are drivers who have met all of the Relay requirements to be certified. Many drivers begin their journey on the Relay Network as a Tier 2 driver and work their way up to Tier 1 as they build and maintain a 5 star rating. Tier 2 drivers satisfy the following requirements:
  1. At least 3 years of verifiable CDL A Experience
  2. Less than 2 violations/infractions on their driving record
  3. Able to drive both manual and automatic trucks

Tier 3 drivers, also known as Vetted drivers, are drivers who are DOT compliant through our vetting process but have not completed the certification because they either do not have enough experience or have not completed enough Relay runs to be eligible for the certification process. Tier 3 drivers satisfy the following requirements:
  1. At least 2 years of verifiable CDL A Experience
  2. Less than 2 violations/infractions on their driving record
  3. May or may not be fully comfortable driving both manual and automatic trucks
  4. Must be added to your insurance before they arrive at your truck
