How Driver Ratings Are Calculated

Driver ratings help carriers make informed decisions before assigning a driver to a run. Each driver’s rating is based on their history using Relay, feedback from other carriers, and how consistently they follow the required process in the app.

Main Driver Rating Categories

Carrier Review Rating

The Carrier Review Rating is based on ratings submitted by other carriers who have previously worked with the driver through Relay.

After completing a run, carriers can rate their experience and provide feedback about the driver. These ratings are combined to create the driver’s overall Carrier Review Rating.

Cancellation Rate Rating

The Cancellation Rate Rating reflects the driver’s order cancellation history.

Drivers who consistently complete the runs they accept will generally have a higher rating. Frequent cancellations may lower this rating.

A higher Cancellation Rate Rating means the driver has a stronger history of following through on accepted runs.

App Use Rating

The App Use Rating measures how consistently the driver uses the Relay app and completes the required in-app steps during a run.

This may include:

Uploading bills of lading and other required documents

Logging pre-trip inspections

Keeping location tracking enabled

Updating their run status

Completing required steps on time

Consistent app use helps carriers track the run, receive important documentation, and confirm that required procedures were completed.

Additional Rating Categories

Carriers may also rate drivers in several specific areas, including:

Attitude

Professionalism

Timeliness

Communication

Positive Experience

These ratings come directly from carriers who have worked with the driver. They provide additional insight into what it may be like to work with that driver.

Viewing Carrier Comments and Recent Ratings

At the bottom of the driver ratings screen, you can view the latest ratings and comments submitted by other carriers.

These comments can provide helpful context beyond the driver’s overall score, including details about communication, professionalism, timeliness, and the carrier’s overall experience.

Using Driver Ratings

Driver ratings can be used as one of several factors when deciding whether a driver is a good fit for your run.

Reviewing the driver’s ratings, cancellation history, app use, and recent carrier comments can help you better understand the driver’s previous performance on the Relay platform.
