Using the Relay Social Feature to Message Potential Drivers

Using the Relay Social Feature to Message Potential Drivers

Relay Social is a mobile feature that makes it easier than ever for you to connect with Relay Drivers in your area, allowing you to build relationships on the Network. You can find the Relay Social tab in the lower right-hand corner of the Relay On Demand mobile app. Carriers that use the in-app messaging features see higher acceptance rates on their orders. Drivers are much more likely to engage with carriers who respond to their questions quickly.

There are four different options in the Relay Social tab at your disposal:
  1. My Groups
  2. Question Chat
  3. Nearby Drivers
  4. Private Messages

My Groups

The My Groups tab is where you will find the Network-wide group chats that are available to you. Here you will be able to see other drivers and carriers contributing to a Network-wide conversation about available routes, the trucking industry as a whole, etc.

With the Network-wide group chat, you can promote potential routes to other drivers on the Network, whether it be a dedicated full-time route or a hot load for later today. You can also speak to other carriers if you are looking to get a peer's input on something.

Question Chat

The Question Chat tab is where you'll see driver questions and messages about your open orders that you have.

Before accepting one of your orders, drivers may have a question about your equipment, the freight being hauled, flexibility of the start time, etc. Quickly responding to these driver questions instills confidence in the driver that you are a carrier who is organized and attentive. Making this first impression on drivers is huge if you are a newer carrier on the Network, since you have not yet had the chance to build up your rating and reputation quite yet.

Carriers that promptly answer drive questions about their open orders see higher acceptance rates on those same orders.

Nearby Drivers

The Nearby Drivers tab allows you to see a list of drivers that are in your area that you can initiate a conversation with. Veteran carriers often use this feature if they have an open order that they need covered quickly. Carrier also use this feature to gauge driver interest in a potential route or project they might have coming up in the future.

The driver list will show you information such as:

  1. Driver distance from you in miles

  2. Driver's first name and profile picture

  3. Driver's years of experience for flatbeds, dry vans, reefers, containers, and box trucks

When you are messaging nearby drivers, do not share any personal information (phone number, email, etc) with them until they have accepted one of your runs.

Private Messages

The Private Messages tab is where you can find any past or ongoing conversations you started with a driver from the Nearby Drivers tab. You will also receive app notifications whenever a driver sends a private message to you
